Below is the general itinerary for each day, along with the excursion options you can choose from to personalize your trip. Please submit your selections on the Activity Registration form, located on the Activity Registration tab above.


Friday, September 5

Arrivals

Arrive to Keflavík International Airport and head to brunch at Sjáland Restaurant. Enjoy Icelandic breakfast staples and fresh bread at an ocean-view bistro. Check-in for The Reykjavík Edition will be available starting at 3:00 PM.

Activity Option 1: Sky Lagoon Experience

From brunch, take a 20-minute drive to Sky Lagoon. Experience true Icelandic bathing tradition through the Seven-Step Ritual, rooted in local culture and designed for deep relaxation and connection. Enjoy ocean views from a 70-meter infinity edge, soak in warm geothermal waters, and explore a turf house inspired by centuries-old Icelandic shelter. A swimsuit is required and changing rooms are available at the facility. Following the experience, get oriented with Reykjavík on the 40-minute drive heading to the hotel.

Activity Option 2: Lava Tunnel

From brunch, take a 45-minute drive to Raufarholshellir. Visit a stunning geological paradise that was formed after a volcanic eruption that happened around 5000 years ago. The cave is a magical place, famed for its vivid colors, fascinating rock sculptures and a host of other things that will inspire awe and wonder. Raufarhólshellir is one of the longest lava tube caves in Iceland, spanning 1360 meters, the majority of which is taken up by the 900-meter main tunnel. Hiking shoes are required, as this is a very active excursion. Following the tour, get oriented with Reykjavík on the 1-hour drive to the hotel.

Saturday, September 6

Into the Glacier - Ice Cave Tours in LangjökullActivity Option 1: Into the Glacier, Hot Springs, Waterfalls, and Ice Tunnel Tour

Take a 2-hour drive to the Borgarfjörður region to spend the day. The first stop is at Deildartunguhver hot spring to relax. From there, the group will take a short drive to Hraunfossar and visit Barnafoss Waterfalls. Enjoy lunch at Húsafell Bistro before taking a 30-minute drive to Klaki Base Camp to tour Langjökull Ice Tunnel. Here, ride in a glacier truck and explore a man-made ice tunnel inside Iceland’s second-largest glacier.

Timing: 8:00 AM – 6:45 PM

Duration: 11 hours

Sunday, September 7 and Monday, September 8

Select from many exciting activity options for your Sunday and Monday itinerary.

Activity Option 1: Inside the Volcano

Take a 30-minute drive to Þríhnúkagígur Volcano— the only place on Earth where you can descend into a dormant volcano and explore its vast magma chamber. This unique adventure begins with a guided 2-mile hike (about 45–50 minutes each way) through stunning Icelandic landscapes, ending with a short but steep incline to Base Camp. There, you’ll enjoy hot drinks and a safety briefing before taking a thrilling 7-minute open cable lift 120 meters (400 feet) down into the volcano. Please note the weight limit to ride the cable lift is 265 pounds.

Inside, you’ll have about 30 minutes to explore and photograph the massive, otherworldly chamber. Please note that the hike is rated moderately difficult. The experience includes safety gear, rain gear if needed, and a traditional Icelandic lamb soup (or vegetarian/vegan option). A truly unforgettable journey into the depths of the Earth.

Activity Option 2: Hvammsvík Hot Springs

Experience Iceland’s raw beauty on this private day tour that combines mindful hiking and geothermal relaxation. After a 45-minute drive from the hotel, your guide will lead a peaceful one-hour walk through untouched nature, tailored to the group’s pace and interests. It’s a perfect way to connect with the landscape, whether you’re an avid hiker or just seeking a gentle outdoor experience. Enjoy lunch at Hvammsvík Bistro with a hearty seafood or vegan soup with fresh sourdough bread, plus a sweet treat, and a soft drink.

Following lunch, unwind at Hvammsvík Hot Springs, set right on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. These natural pools vary with the tides, offering a unique soak every time. Enjoy private access to showers and a steam room, along with use of towels, wading shoes, and paddle boards. A swimsuit is required and changing rooms are available at the facility. Plan to take a 1-hour drive to return to the hotel.

Activity Option 4: White Water River Rafting

Experience one of Iceland’s most popular outdoor adventures with Arctic Rafting on the Hvítá River, a 2-hour drive from the hotel, set in the heart of the Golden Circle. Experience a thrilling mix of serene canyon views and exciting rapids, with scenery that includes dramatic basalt columns and the stunning Brúarhlöð canyon.

Led by certified guides trained in swift water rescue and wilderness first aid, the tour combines adventure with safety. After your ride, relax with warm showers, a sauna, or a bite at the cozy countryside restaurant. The tour includes all rafting gear, and access to on-site amenities — a refreshing and unforgettable way to explore Iceland’s natural beauty.

Activity Option 5: Icelandic Horseback Riding

Explore Iceland’s stunning countryside on horseback with a private riding tour from Laxnes Farm, just 30-minutes from the hotel. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced rider, the farm’s sure-footed Icelandic horses are matched to your skill level for a safe and memorable trek. Guides select your horse based on your riding background to ensure the perfect fit. Please note the weight limit to ride these horses is 240 pounds.

The two-hour ride takes you through a lush river valley, with routes leading either toward the ocean or the scenic Tröllafoss waterfall. The full experience includes all riding equipment, and a post-ride lunch.

Activity Option 6: Fly Fishing

Spend a day immersing yourself in world-class fly fishing on the scenic Hólá River, one hour from the hotel. This accessible, beginner-friendly river is known for its healthy populations of Arctic Char and Brown Trout, with occasional catches of Atlantic Salmon and Sea-Run Brown Trout.

Perfect for both seasoned anglers and newcomers, the experience includes a guide, all necessary gear, a picnic lunch, and your fishing license. This peaceful day tour offers a refreshing way to enjoy Iceland’s natural beauty while casting lines in one of its most beloved rivers.

Activity Option 7: Golf

Golfing in Iceland is a truly unique experience, offering dramatic landscapes and lava fields. With sweeping mountain and ocean views, Icelandic courses are shaped by nature and inspired by the game’s Scottish roots. Brautarholt Golf Course is 45-minutes from the hotel. Enjoy a morning round followed by lunch.

Activity Option 8: Whale Watching

Set off from Reykjavík’s Old Harbour on a thrilling 2-hour wildlife adventure aboard a custom RIB boat, guided by a certified captain and expert crew. These agile boats allow you to get closer to whales and puffins than larger vessels, maximizing your chances of unforgettable sightings while offering a smooth and safe ride.

As you return, enjoy sweeping views of Reykjavík’s coastline, including the iconic Sun Voyager sculpture and Harpa Concert Hall. The tour includes warm overalls, goggles, and all necessary safety gear for a comfortable experience on the water. With REK Harbor just a short 15-minute walk from the hotel, it’s a fast-paced and scenic way to experience Icelandic marine life.

ATV - Black Sand Beach - Midgard Adventure

Activity Option 9: Black Beach ATV Adventure

Take a 45-minute drive to Þorlákshöfn. Join an unforgettable ATV tour on the beautiful Black Sand Beach. Shoot across the Black Sand Beach on an ATV/Quad bike and an inland trail in between Lyme grass-covered dunes on the way back. You will get a chance to explore the landscape further and have a look at the sea cliffs where the waves come crashing against the rocks below. A driver’s license is required; select either a single ride to drive yourself, or a double ride to share a machine with your partner. Following the tour, enjoy lunch in a nearby restaurant.

Tuesday, September 9

5 Things To Know Before Visiting Gullfoss Waterfall Iceland - Iceland TrippersGroup Activity: Golden Circle & Glacier Adventure

Check out of The Reykjavík Edition and take a 45-minute drive to Þingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site) for a brief sight and service stop before taking a 1-hour ride in Super Jeeps to Gullfoss Waterfall. Stand next to the amazing “golden waterfall”, before visiting Geysir area, an impressive sight of bubbling mud pools, hissing steam vents, and colorful algae deposits. Strokkur geyser puts on an impressive show every few minutes blasting boiling water into the air. Wrap up the adventure by snowmobiling on Langjökull Glacier, surrounded by majestic mountain views. Weather permitting, enjoy a glacier picnic. A driver’s license is required to drive a snowmobile; select either a single ride to drive yourself, or a double ride to share a machine with your partner. Plan for a 1-hour drive to Hotel Geysir.

Hotel Check-in & Dinner

Following activities, check into Hotel Geysir and join Sunpro for a group dinner. This one-night stop will put us in a better position for the following day’s activities and help us avoid a two-hour drive back into the city. This property offers a unique experience with its proximity to a natural geyser, allowing for a peaceful evening walk or a morning nature hike away from the crowds.


Wednesday, September 10

Hiking the Thórsmörk Valley, Thorsmork | kimkimGroup Activity: Thorsmörk Valley Expedition 

Check out of Hotel Geysir and take a 2-hour drive to Hvolsvollur Village. Enjoy a Buggy ride through the bounty of nature in the Valley of Thor! Thorsmörk Valley is protected by high mountains, so the winds are weaker, and the temperatures are a bit higher than surrounding areas. This dreamlike landscape is home to many Game of Thrones filming locations. See stunning lava formations, glacier, and mossy mountains before a brief stop in a mountain hut for a catered lunch. Following lunch, visit Seljalandsfoss Waterfall. A driver’s license is required to drive a buggy.

Following activities, plan for a 1-hour drive to a unique dining experience with Sunpro before driving an additional one hour to The Retreat at Blue Lagoon hotel.

Delight in all day relaxation with wellness time at the award-winning luxury resort, which encompasses a private lagoon. Enjoy unlimited access from 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM to the tranquil waters of the Blue Lagoon. Wander through lava canyons and hidden corridors, enjoying temperatures of 98-104 degrees. Come into harmony with the nourishing wonders of the volcanic earth through the Blue Lagoon’s trinity of bioactive treasures—silica, algae, and minerals. You will be scheduled a 30-minute in-water massage, compliments of Sunpro Rewards.

Following activities, join Sunpro for a memorable Icelandic farewell dinner.
