Sunpro is proud to congratulate team member Steve Wilmoth on his recent election as mayor of Oakley, Utah. Steve has served the community for nearly a decade on the city council, and while public service was never something he planned, it has become a meaningful way for him to give back.
“I was never really interested in politics,” Steve said. “I kind of just fell into it. A few people in town asked if I would put my name in for a council appointment, and I figured I’d try it for a year. I ran again six months later, won, and I thought that would be it. Then it happened again. This year I finally decided to run for mayor.”
Steve won the election with 68 percent of the vote. “It was very humbling,” he said. “There is a lot of work ahead, but the experience I gained on the council will help me jump in with both feet.”
Throughout his service, Steve says Sunpro has consistently supported him. “They have always been understanding,” he said. “If I ever needed to step out for a meeting, they trusted me to handle it. That kind of support means a lot.”
Greg Templeman, president of Sunpro, shared his appreciation for Steve’s example. “Steve has always quietly embodied Clyde Companies vision of building a better community. His election as mayor of Oakley makes that more publicly known, but it is no surprise to those of us who know him.”
In addition to his city responsibilities, Steve has long been involved with Oakley’s well-known rodeo, which helps fund parks, fields and recreation for local families. “Clyde Companies has been a big sponsor,” Steve said. “Their support has made a real difference for our community.”
Sunpro gladly supports team members like Steve who show what it means to humbly serve with integrity and care. Steve’s approach to leadership lines up well with Sunpro and Clyde Companies’ commitment to community.
